26 May 2014 Another Passion

I came across something today, so powerful, that I felt I needed to share, a poem by Woody Harrelson

Thoughts from Within

I sometimes feel like an alien creature
for which there is no earthly explanation.
Sure I have human form, walking erect with opposing digits
but my mind is upside down…
I feel like a run on sentence in a punctuation crazy world
and I see the world around me like a mad collective dream.
An endless stream of people move like ants on the freeways…
cell phones, PCs and digital displays…
“In money we trust”
We’ll find happiness;
the prevailing attitude.
Like a genetically modified, irradiated big mac
is somehow symbolic of food.

Morality is legislated,
Prisons overpopulated,
Religion is incorporated,
the profit motive has permeated all activity
We pay our government to let us park on the street.
And war is the biggest moneymaker of all.
We all know missile envy only comes from being small.

Politicians and prostitutes are comfortable together.
I wonder if they talk about the strange change in the weather.
This government was founded by, of, and for the people,
but everybody feels it like a giant open sore
they don’t represent us any more.
And blaming the president for the country’s woes
is like yelling at a puppet for the way it sings.
Who is the man behind the curtain pulling the strings?

A billion people sitting watching their TV
in the room they call living. But as for me,
I see living is loving, and since there is no loving room
I sit in the grass under a tree,
dreaming of the way things used to be…
pre-industrial revolution.

Which of course was before the rivers and oceans
and skies were polluted.
Before Parkinson’s and mad cows
and all the convoluted cacophony of bad ideas
like sky scrapers and tree paper and earth rapers
like Monsanto and Dupont had their way,
as they continue to, today.

This was pre-us.
Back when the buffalo roamed
and the Indians home
was the forest and God was nature
and heaven was here and now.
Can you imagine clean water, food, and air
living in community with animals and people who care?

Do you dare feel responsible for every dollar you lay down?
Are you going to make the rich man richer or are you going to stand your ground?
You say you want a revolution,
a communal evolution
to be part of the solution?
Maybe I’ll be seeing you around…

While this passion of mine may not be directly associated with the Law of Attraction, Creating, or Old Fords, there is common ground.

This powerful piece of poetry is a reflection on human values as they are perceived, and while it is very true that the generations preceding ours have a lot to answer for in both their ignorance, and their greed, it is NOW that we have the power.

What power do we have?

Actually we have the power to cripple those crippling our planet by being able to cut the supply of what is most important to them… their MONEY.

McDonald’s sells products closely resembling food, but it’s actually poison

Monsanto and DuPont are LITERALLY poisoning both our planet with their pesticides, and or food supply with their genetically modified crops

Oh lets face it, with a few exceptions, every large corporation is guilty to some extent or another.

Grow your own vegetables, it takes only 9 square feet per person, OK I’m not there yet, but I have been gathering the tools and supplies10255625_793440270673759_4420501235365854016_n

Recycle, re-Use and preserve as much as possible, creativity can transform a shipping pallet into a unique and beautiful piece of furniture

Let me not get started on the current crop of “throw away cars”…

A good piece of quality used furniture is often more durable than a new piece

DO NOT BUY GENETICALLY MODIFIED ANYTHING, not only is it dangerous to your health, but it is destroying bio-diversity and killing insect populations.

I try to buy local at all times, not only am I supporting a small business, but more often than not, the prices and service more than compete with the monstrous hyper-markets. And while at times I am left with little alternative but to buy from one of the local “walmart” subsidiaries, I limit that as much as possible.

And you know what? At the end of the day, not only are you doing your bit to save the planet, but you also eating and living healthier. Plus it gives me a real thrill to give the greedy impersonal corporations the finger 🙂 (although I may have to re-think my dislike for a certain paint company…)

We live in a society whose economy is based on over-consumption, we are inundated by a media that force feeds us lies 24/7, in order to be happy and successful we must

buy this car

live in this house

spend all our free time watching this tv

eat from these fast food chains

sit on this lounge suite

and look this photo-shopped model etc etc etc

Be mindful, be aware and use your pocket to vote

and then…

Go Forth and be Awesome! 🙂

All My Love
