20 June 2015 – Little Boxes

“Loadshedding” strikes again, 19h00 – 21h00 seems to be our designated slot for now. During last night’s blackout I observed that throwing tantrums and cursing the ANC hasn’t been a very effective solution to the problem thus far, so I have determined that from now on I will be using this time consciously and productively.

I am grateful that, by and large, I am better equipped to endure these daily two hours without electrical power, after all, hot water is courtesy of a wood-fired geyser (donkey), cooking is via gas. I have a recently acquired a power bank to keep my smartphone going and plenty of candles, oil lamps and rechargeable LED lights to keep illuminated.WP_20150628_002comp WP_20150628_001comp

Maybe I’ll supplement my desktop PC with a laptop one of these days, but for now I’m embracing the semi-disconnect and enjoying using a paper and pen again!

I popped into the pub while I was in town today and the conversation turned to the low income houses popping up like mushrooms all over the Eastern Cape countryside, then my brother decided to go give away his age by quoting the lyrics of a song from 1962 “Little Boxes”. A lively discussion ensued about how prophetic the lyrics have proven to be, and, belonging to a (slightly) younger generation than the other patrons there, I Googled the lyrics and the YouTube video.

It turns out that the piece originated as a protest song about conformity, WOW! 53 years ago some enlightened individuals already saw this as a problem;

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky,1
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same.
There’s a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they’re all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses
All went to the university,
Where they were put in boxes
And they came out all the same,
And there’s doctors and lawyers,
And business executives,
And they’re all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf course
And drink their martinis dry,
And they all have pretty children
And the children go to school,
And the children go to summer camp
And then to the university,
Where they are put in boxes
And they come out all the same.

And the boys go into business
And marry and raise a family
In boxes made of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.
There’s a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they’re all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

We do indeed live in a society obsessed by conformity. I have written at length (and probably ad-nauseum) about the fact that so many do not live, they simply plod along the path of mediocrity, never questioning “why” or “what is better”

And it’s no mistake, it is ENGINEERED to be this way, after all, the “powers that be” NEED us to be stupid sheep

What has dominated the news recently? I don’t watch/read/listen to the news, but from what I have been able to gather, the International news headlines have been about gunmen on a Tunisia beach, a church slaying in Charlestown and the resultant plans to ban the Confederate flag, and of course the legalizing of same-sex marriage in the USA.

In South Africa, it’s almost always about our clown President’s latest idiocy and the invariable announcements on fuel and power hikes, and the state of electrical use and what level of loadshedding results.

While our attention is focused on these things of either little personal consequence, or about which we can do nothing, the news media does not tell us about

  • Earth entering it’s 6th mass-extinction
  • The fast-tracking of the TPP
  • Why bats are dying in the millions
  • Why bees are dying by the billions
  • Potential food shortages because of drought, soil depletion and the plunge in wildlife populations

And locally;

  • The approval by cabinet of hydraulic fracking in the Karoo

It’s an old conjurer’s trick on steroids; distract the audience’s attention while you perform your sleight-of-hand unobserved!

Do you see how we are being manipulated? Create focus on an emotive issue; money, racism, our taxes being wasted, and unobserved, the true power brokers commit crimes not only against humanity but the Earth itself!

Many… MOST… blame technology, after all it is the burning of fossil fuels that are blamed for the greenhouse effect, pollution from the manufacturing processes that is poisoning our planet, fuel and raw materials being extracted from the earth, it is the technology of radio, television and printed media that carry the misdirection into our very homes…

But I strongly disagree

Is it then humanity that are the virus? After all without humans, this planet would be unsullied

It is the 4 pillars of religion, politics, money and corporatocracy that are destroying the Earth.

  • Religion divides – Spirituality unites, Religion not only has been the cause behind almost every war in history, but the promise of a reward away from Earth coupled with the promise of Divine destruction of this Earth that devalues this existence for many, after all, what is the point of preserving a planet that it’s very creator promises to destroy?
  • Politics – Oh come on, do I really even need to explain how politicians care for nothing but themselves? Oh and of course their sponsorship/bribery/backhands from big business?
  • The Monetary system – the printing of pieces of paper with no intrinsic value with which to enslave an entire race!
  • Corporatocracy – an economic and political system controlled by corporations and/or corporate interests. Corporations are the real rulers of humankind; they create the desires, and control the dispensing of practically everything!

Technology is a tool. Just like a knife can be used both to prepare and consume your meal or to kill someone, technology can be used for whatever we choose, unfortunately, to date, most people have been so dumbed-down and overbred by the 4 pillars that their use of technology is ignorant at best.

But out of technology has sprung the internet, and this technology is educating the masses, little wonder therefor that the 4 pillars are trying their damndest to censor this too!

What can WE do?

Wake UP! Start to question EVERYTHING, as much as possible, stop giving your support to the 4 pillars, grow your own food if you can, collect your own rainwater if you can, stop watching TV, stop following the news, buy local wherever possible, support net neutrality, do not join the armed forces, they fight for G.O.D. (Gold, Oil and Diamonds), realize that we are all connected, read, THINK!

We will win, because there is no alternative

In the meantime…

Go Forth and be Awesome

All my Love
